Problem Solving in Business: A group of people working on a task
CIPD is the world’s largest HR professional organisation, providing a fast track annual Executive Development Programme for its rising stars.
To enhance participants’ ability to manage projects, challenges and blockages in the future, Primeast were invited to design and deliver a workshop module on Problem Solving in Business.
In Detail
The module consisted of a series of theoretical inputs balanced with activities and exercises allowing the participants to try out what they had learned. Content included a simple but effective problem solving methodology, understanding the creative thinking process and a range of creative thinking and decision making techniques and tools.
The workshop concluded with an Action Learning Set designed to help participants decide how they would make the best use of the learning gained during the module in their own workplace situation.
The Result
Participant feedback indicates this module has proved valuable in enhancing their practical problem solving skills. On one occasion in the workshop itself, a participant was practicing a particular decision making tool and identified a key omission in a forthcoming project he was involved in. During the next break he was able to call his colleagues in the office preventing a potentially serious and costly delay.
