Mike Main
Mike has been described as a ‘Renaissance Man’. He owns several businesses, works as a management consultant specialising in team-building, strategic planning and presentation skills, writes books, runs safaris for visiting UK children, is an award winning photographer, and lectures on cruise liners.
From a long and early association with Outward Bound Schools, to 25 years of working as a trainer in leadership and team skills, Mike is passionate about working together towards common goals and the often simple skills that can greatly enhance the ability of a group to achieve. Having worked in the corporate world in a so-called ‘Third World’ country, Mike has a specially developed understanding of the unique problems often encountered in such places.
Willingness, enthusiasm and passion do not always make up for a simple lack of capacity and experience – these are the challenges of Africa. Motivation is often misunderstood and distorted by the traditional belief that all comes from the chief – that the boss is the sole motivator. Mike is passionate in believing that motivation comes from within.
