Driving Excellence
On first examination of a leader’s role it is easy to assume that this is the single most important part of “the job”. Leaders are expected to drive the organisation forward, to achieve results, to have a vision for the future and to deliver on that vision. ‘Driving Excellence’ allows leaders to look at the different elements of achieving excellence. We challenge leaders to think in depth about the company’s vision and how they can lead the organisation to become truly great.
Benefits
- Leaders who constantly look for improvement in all areas
- Leaders who understand what will make their organisation greater than the competition and have the drive to achieve this
- Leaders who understand that the business is differentiated in many ways and strive to add value at every opportunity
- Clear vision for others to follow and which all buy into
Here are some of the key elements which can be incorporated to help leaders in their drive for excellence:
- Organisational culture vs. systems – examining the ‘way we do things round here’, the standards and opportunities to improve whether through a shift in culture or change in process
- From ‘good to great’ – identifying what differentiates your offering from that of your competitors. Exploring what needs to happen to become/remain the best
- Exploiting your talents to add value – applies the ‘leading from within’ model and translates it into value-adding activities
- Delivering excellent customer service – recognising good customer service and how it benefits organisations and individuals. Understanding how this can be delivered consistently, internally and externally
- Employee engagement – inspiring the workforce to become advocates and be proud of their organisation/goods/services
- Implementing the vision – devising strategies to deliver the vision; tools and techniques for change implementation. Understanding a systems thinking approach for excellence throughout, not just in pockets
- Engendering shared responsibility – expanding accountability for results from top-line to front-line – individuals taking responsibility at all levels. Managing performance
- Flawless execution – ensuring leaders create the right mindsets and culture to allow excellence to happen. Developing a learning organisation. Ensuring actions are reviewed adapted and improved
