PrimeFocus

Introduction

Prime Focus Programme DiagramTo help tune leadership for the delivery of high-performance, Primeast implement a simple framework called PrimeFocus. This evolves a common language and skill-set for leaders throughout the organisation.

PrimeFocus is used in coaching, training and consulting assignments. Simple yet powerful and compelling, it helps leaders understand the elements of leadership and how they fit together. Working closely with leaders we explore the depths of each component and the relationships between components in the context of their world. This provides a basis for future development.

Being human

The leadership experience is set in the context of being human. Understanding why we are here and how we contribute needs to be explored to make the most of our leadership ability.

Purpose

Understanding what we are here to do is key to success. Leaders must be absolutely clear in establishing and communicating the purpose of their organisation (or their part of the organisation) in order to keep a tight focus on operations.

Vision

Whilst purpose is tight and robust, vision is expansive and fluid. Leaders must share their pieces of the vision with others to form a shared vision that can be described in language and richness that means something to everyone involved in the operation - including all key stakeholders.

Engagement

Represented as the slice of the triangle that sits between the vision and what actually happens in the organisation, engagement is the greatest challenge for most leaders. Knowing how to engage with others using the leader’s personal strengths is key to motivation. Here lies a powerful opportunity for leaders to get to know themselves and others in the context of higher performance.

Structure

Leaders must ensure there is clarity of process and robust structure appropriate to their operation. Goals, plans and targets should provide a route-map to delivering the vision. And policies, systems and processes should provide method to save people re-inventing the wheel. Consistency of structure throughout the organisation is key to a smooth and flexible operation.

Culture

Structure will fail to achieve results without a constructive culture appropriate to the operation. There are lots of ways to diagnose and manage culture and many organisations have made a great start by establishing corporate values. These provide a useful starting point but values cannot be seen. They must be translated into measurable behaviours relevant to each person’s role.

Results & success

Results are important and can be derived from the structured metrics of the operation. However, leading people to go the extra mile requires the need to tap into what success means to them - a key leadership skill.

Benefits

PrimeFocus is a powerful framework that provides leaders and prospective leaders with a route map to managing their leadership capability.
